CHROMA Fashion Show

We are so honored to have been a part of the CHROMA Art Show and are still in awe of how awesome it was. Out marketing team- Carley, Kodi, and Sarah- went out and got to work behind the scenes of the show. As lovers of all things fashion, this was a huge opportunity to learn more about fashion marketing and merchandising. Read this article to see photos from the show and our personal experiences!

The CHROMA Show was in benefit of communities of color in Lubbock, Texas and on the border. Hosted by Texas Tech faculty member Elisandra Garcia of Elisandra Creative Studio, has been raising awareness of how poverty, climate change, and violence are affecting children in Mexico and American border cities since 2016. This year the studio decided to also have a focus on racism, social injustices, and the belief that black lives matter.

Being a part of the show was a great opportunity for myself and our marketing team. Going into it, I had no idea the responsibility we were granted. Making outfits matching the color palette, accessorizing, coordinating with the models, and helping all of the models change quickly from outfit to outfit. Starting with what the vibe we wanted our outfits to be while still staying on brand for TC Elli’s, was our first challenge we faced. Luckily our buyers headed out to L.A. two weeks before the show and found lots of new trending pieces at market. That was a really cool experience for me as well, dealing with huge shipments coming in and a 100 pieces launch. Most of the clothes we incorporated into the pieces featured were actually from our Honey I’m Home Collection which launched all of our fall pieces.

My personal favorite looks from the show were the sage green cut out dress, the City Girl Sage fluffy coat, paired with solid white accessories. A more casual look I loved was a tan turtleneck bodycon dress and a black sherpa denim jacket.

I had such a great time at the show and the preparation time leading up to it as well, I really appreciate the opportunity I was given to be a part of something so amazing. While we were at the show, we were given the chance to help backstage with the outfits and dressing process and it was really fun getting to express ourselves through the looks we created. The color palette we were given was so beautiful and perfect for the fall and coincidentally we had so many pieces that fit the aesthetic perfectly.

We incorporated many of the trends we have seen arise lately, including hats, sunglasses, knitwear, and more. I believe my favorite outfit that we featured at the show was the Caught up in a Dream Sweater in Moss paired with our Uh’ Huh Honey Jeans and the In the Mountains Plaid Jacket in Cream. We also added to this look with one of the beautiful Lieutenant-style hats that we dropped with our Honey I’m Home collection.

My job at the show was similar to Carley’s and Sarah’s. We wanted to make sure and do as much marketing of the clothing featured as possible, so, we started an Instagram live-video as well as took a ton of stories. This was a wonderful experience that allowed us to tap into our creative side and I had a lot of fun getting to see what all goes into shows like these.
